The impact of workplace bullying and harassment has profoundly affected my life, leading to the loss of my employment and homelessness. Despite seeking assistance, law enforcement agencies have failed to protect me, and legal counsel has been elusive. My efforts to document physical work place injuries have been thwarted by medical practitioners' reluctance to provide accurate records and support, while multiple compelled mental health evaluations only further the distress.

I am advocating for stronger legal protections and increased accountability in workplaces and organizations, including homeless shelters. One critical measure to address this issue is prohibiting forced mental evaluations: employers or shelter administrators should not have the authority to mandate mental health evaluations for individuals reporting or experiencing bullying and harassment.

I've been told in response of submitted complaints and incident reports that there is nothing that anyone can do about the physical and verbal threats and assaults.  Even denying the existence of camera footage to confirm any wrong doing. 

Their passivity and refusal to acknowledge these forms of violence created an open opportunity for public Harassment.  There is a noticable change in the world around me.  People have become more rude, careless and violence has increased significantly. 

Workplace bullying has lasting effects on individuals, often cascading into a loss of safety, productivity, and overall well-being and physical health. According to the Workplace Bullying Institute, 19% of Americans experience bullying at work, and 60% of interventions remain unresolved. Shelters, designed to be a refuge, must especially safeguard their residents from such toxic behaviors, ensuring they serve their purpose as safe havens.

We need policies that enshrine zero-tolerance to bullying, ensuring every victim receives genuine support rather than facing misguided scrutiny. Organizations must establish clear channels for complaints without fear of retribution, including an independent review body to oversee cases impartially.

Policymakers must recognize and counteract these adversities, codifying protections that shield victims and hold perpetrators accountable. It's time to transform our workplaces and shelters into spaces of respect, fairness, and safety.
