Our environment is at risk and there are many issues to fix.  One easy solution however, is the use of single-use plastics to hold liquid laundry detergent. In 2018 Tide sold 92 million units throughout the United States.  This is just one of the several companies who's businesses have only boomed since covid-19.

The global liquid detergent market reached a value of US$ 29.6 Billion in 2021. 

This means the corporations…

Henkel AG & Co. KGaA
Procter & Gamble Company
The Clorox Company
Church & Dwight Co., Inc.
Unilever N.V./PLC
etc.

…can afford to rework their technology, equipment, manufacturing, production and dispersing processes to be more environmentally conscious.  Yet why is no one making moves or acknowledging this issue?  No one is talking about it?

THE PROBLEM:

Liquid detergent is made up of 60-90 percent water, weighing about 4-5 pounds each.  This wastes millions of gallons of valuable water per year, costs millions of gallons of fuel to transport the heavy weight due to the water and those large bright single use, non recyclable, non reusable containers are ending up in our oceans and eventually in our bodies in the form of micro-plastics.

The technology exists to provide CONCENTRATED laundry soap sheets which require less packaging and weigh next to nothing. So if the science is available why aren’t we using it???

It’s irresponsible, lazy and negligent. We have many single use plastic issues to resolve but this is a simple one with a ready solution, which we are ignoring. This is such an easy change to make for consumers. It might cause the 20+ billion dollar laundry detergent industry to take a hit financially but isn’t that worth the cost of our planet.

SO, A SOLUTION...?

Target, Wal Mart, Grocery stores, all retailers!!! Start carrying laundry detergent sheets, stop buying these liquid detergents, provide better choices for those who can’t order their own online.  Amazon, stop shipping liquid detergent!

Spas, salons, hotels and laundry services!!! Start using concentrated detergent company-wide and offering it in your establishments!

If we all protest and act together... If we call them all out?
Waving signs does nothing if we don't organize, act together and speak up in practical and productive ways.
