Demand Kingsville Town Council to Regulate Short Term Rentals

Demand Kingsville Town Council to Regulate Short Term Rentals

The Issue

As residents of the tranquil town of Kingsville, Ontario, we have always cherished the peace and quiet that our community offers. However, this serenity is being disrupted by  unregulated short-term rentals (STR). Our once peaceful neighbourhood is now a hub for constant streams of strangers, loud parties till all hours, heavy drinking and yards lit up throughout the night.

The owners of these STRs do not live at these properties and many are from outside our area. They seem to have little regard for how their business operations affect us - the residents who call Kingsville home. We've lost enjoyment of our own property due to their lackadaisical attitude towards regulation.

We are not against STRs but believe that there should be bylaws in place to regulate them. These regulations would ensure respect for local residents' rights while still allowing visitors to enjoy what our beautiful town has to offer.

According to a study by McGill University researchers, areas with high concentrations of STRs have seen increased levels of noise complaints and other nuisance reports (McGill University Study on Short Term Rentals). This issue is not unique to us; it's a growing problem across Canada that needs addressing.

We urge the town council of Kingsville Ontario to craft bylaws regulating short term rentals. It's time we restore peace in our neighbourhoods while ensuring fair practices in rental businesses within residential areas.
In 2022 VRBO generated 2.7 billion dollars in rental fees. There are over 2 million properties in 190 countries worldwide. The average income generated is $33000.00 per user. This is a multi billion dollar industry. We must licence them.
Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving the tranquility and respect for residents' rights in Kingsville.
