DEMAND Kardashian & Ripley's Apology: Protect History From Highest Bidders

DEMAND Kardashian & Ripley's Apology: Protect History From Highest Bidders
Why this petition matters

For the 2022 Met Gala, Miss Kimberly Kardashian, a prolific and extremely wealthy socialite, provided large donations on behalf of "Ripley's Believe it or Not" in Orlando, in exchange for the opportunity to wear Miss Marilyn Monroes Iconic "Happy Birthday" gown.
I cannot begin to tell you, in reasonable words, how mortifying it was to see the legacy of that dress be infringed upon, by an individual who has blatantly exemplified a culture of over-entitlement, in which anyone with the influence and means, can get whatever they want, when they want it, no matter how sacred it may be to an ENORMOUS amount of people.
Though, Miss Kardashian is not entirely to blame here. Who is truly at fault, is Ripley's, by allowing this situation to occur, they have not only shown the world that they are NOT a legitimate museum, worthy of being the guardians of the precious objects they may legally own, but, they have just set a dangerous precedent, in allowing such things to occur on the whims of the "highest bidder."
No matter what excuses they may give, the bottom-line of this situation, is money and publicity. Neither of those are adequate enough reasons to TAINT a legacy. They may argue that the dresses value may have been enhanced by this stunt. They may be technically correct, however, to true Marilyn fans around the world, this legendary object has been DESTROYED.
To Monroe fans around the world, THIS was sacrilege. To museum and historical fashion curators, THIS was sacrilege. What happened that night was historical and fashion heresy, and it NEEDS to be addressed. They may have "legally" owned that dress, but something like that does not have a true owner....it belongs to the world. Any REAL museum would understand that.
Obviously, it is done. There is no turning back time. However, what needs to be done now, to help preserve the standards of artifact integrity, and to quell the legitimate fury of Monroe fans across the globe, is a formal apology by Miss Kardashian, for having the fortitude to even ask in the first place, and from Ripley's, who allowed it to happen for donations and publicity.
I ask all of those around the world, who love their Marilyn, and those who wish to protect the integrity of our historical pieces, and the integrity of the museum's that guard them, to sign this petition to make sure this NEVER...HAPPENS...AGAIN!!!
