We, the undersigned, demand that the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office, led by James Gomric, pursue the full extent of justice for the brutal, premeditated assault committed by Hayley Ditzler and Olivia Brown against Evee Berentz on April 21st, 2025.

Evee Berentz, an 18-year-old young woman, was lured under false pretenses, ambushed, and violently assaulted by Hayley Ditzler and Olivia Brown. The assault was planned, premeditated, and carried out with malicious intent. During the attack, Evee was punched, pulled by the hair, repeatedly struck, and forcibly dragged across concrete by her hair, causing road rash injuries. Her head was slammed into the concrete, inflicting serious physical harm, including a documented concussion. Beyond the devastating physical injuries, Evee now suffers severe emotional trauma, nightmares, anxiety, and a persistent fear for her safety. This was not an isolated act. Hayley Ditzler and Olivia Brown are reportedly involved in similar violent incidents against other victims, establishing a pattern of aggressive and dangerous behavior that threatens the safety of our entire community.

Despite overwhelming evidence of premeditation and violence, there is growing concern that prosecutors may offer lenient plea deals or allow the perpetrators to escape with mere probation.

We say NO to plea deals. NO to probation.

Justice demands:

• Full prosecution of Hayley Ditzler and Olivia Brown on all applicable felony charges, including aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and mob action.
• A public trial, ensuring transparency, community oversight, and full accountability.
• Sentencing that reflects the brutality and seriousness of this crime, protecting Evee, other potential victims, and the public at large.

Anything less sends a dangerous message that deliberate, violent ambushes can be excused without real consequences. Victims like Evee and the broader community deserve better.

We urge St. Clair County State’s Attorney James Gomric to stand strong, refuse any plea bargains that diminish accountability, and prosecute Hayley Ditzler and Olivia Brown to the fullest extent of the law.
