- The Issue
We demand a full and transparent investigation into the roles of Annette Harris and Shannon Harris in the tragic and preventable death of 13-year-old Naziyah Harris. As her grandmother and aunt, they were entrusted with her safety but failed to protect her. Evidence indicates they were aware of the abusive and dangerous environment Naziyah endured but chose not to act.
Even more devastating, Naziyah’s body has not been recovered, leaving (some of) her family and community without closure.
It has also been revealed that Jarvis Butts, the man who took her life, impregnated her prior to killing her.
Despite knowing about his documented history of child abuse, Shannon Harris continued a relationship with him, willfully exposing Naziyah to unimaginable harm.
Both Shannon and Annette Harris lied under oath during court proceedings, attempting to cover up their neglect and complicity. Adding to the urgency, Annette Harris currently has custody of additional children. Given her role in this tragedy, it is imperative to investigate her actions and ensure the safety of those in her care.
- Who is impacted?
Naziyah Harris was a bright, innocent 13-year-old girl whose life was tragically cut short. She relied on Annette and Shannon Harris to protect her, but their negligence left her vulnerable to abuse, ultimately leading to her death.
This case is not only about Naziyah. Annette Harris’s continued custody of other children raises grave concerns about their safety. If nothing is done, more lives may be at risk. This is a matter of protecting all vulnerable children and ensuring accountability for those who fail in their duty to safeguard them.
- What is at stake?
If Shannon and Annette Harris are not held accountable, it sets a dangerous precedent that neglect, deceit, and complicity can go unpunished. Their inaction and dishonesty contributed to Naziyah’s death, and ignoring this injustice endangers other children who may find themselves in similarly unsafe environments.
This is about more than seeking justice for Naziyah. It’s about protecting the children currently in Annette Harris’s custody and ensuring no other family has to endure the same heartbreak. Taking action now sends a clear message that failing to protect vulnerable children will never be tolerated.
- Why is now the time to act?
The time to act is now. Naziyah’s body remains missing. Every day without justice for Naziyah is another day that dishonors her memory and prolongs the risk to other children in unsafe situations.
Shannon Harris knowingly involved herself with Jarvis Butts, a man with a history of child abuse, despite the danger it posed to Naziyah. Annette Harris, who failed to protect her granddaughter, still has custody of other children who may be at risk. Immediate action is critical to ensure their safety and hold all responsible parties accountable.
We cannot wait any longer to demand answers, expose the truth, and secure justice for Naziyah. Her story is a reminder that no child should ever be left unprotected. Let us come together to honor her memory, protect others, and ensure accountability for those who failed her.
