The Issue

On November 1, 2019, at 2:44 a.m., my beloved 16-year-old son, XeQuan Lamar Campbell affectionately known as ChooChoo to his family and Quan to his friends was brutally taken from us. His death certificate unequivocally states homicide, yet our cries for justice have remained unheard in Jackson County. This petition is deeply personal to me; XeQuan was my son, a bright and loving soul whose life was unjustly cut short.

XeQuan was more than just a victim; he was a promising young man with dreams and a future, cruelly stolen from his family and, most heartbreakingly, his young daughter, who is now left with unanswered questions. His murder is not just a statistic. It's a tragedy profoundly impacting those who loved him and a community failing to provide justice.

In Carbondale, Illinois – the heart of Jackson County – we are demanding transparency, accountability, and action from our local authorities. Why is there a lack of action, and why have those responsible not been brought to justice? XeQuan's family and the broader community deserve answers, accountability, and closure.

The justice system exists to serve and protect us, not leave us in perpetual anguish. We call on the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office, the Sheriff's Department, and all relevant authorities to re-investigate XeQuan's case, conduct a thorough investigation, and hold those accountable to face the full weight of the law.

Help bring justice for XeQuan and ensure that no other family has to suffer the same endless pain and uncertainty we are experiencing. By signing this petition, you're not just supporting one family. You're advocating for justice, reform, and a safer community for all in Jackson County. Please sign and help us demand the justice XeQuan deserves.
