Demand Justice for William McNeil After Violent Arrest

Demand Justice for William McNeil After Violent Arrest
The Issue
William Anthony McNeil Jr. was pulled over by Jacksonville deputies for minor traffic violations. What happened next was caught on video: officers shattered his window, punched him in the face, pulled him from his car, and continued to beat him on the ground—even though he never acted violently.
Despite the footage, Florida’s State Attorney has ruled that no criminal laws were broken. Deputy Bowers, the officer seen breaking the window and throwing the first punch, has been stripped of his authority—for now—but he has not been charged with a crime. An internal investigation is ongoing, but that’s not enough.
The public deserves answers. McNeil, a 22-year-old Black man, was afraid and asked to speak to a supervisor. Instead, he was met with violence. Body camera footage confirms what we saw in the viral video: excessive force against someone who posed no threat.
This can’t be swept under the rug.
Sign now to demand that Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters and the State Attorney’s Office pursue real accountability, release the full findings of their investigation, and ensure that the officers involved are held responsible under law and department policy.
