On June 11th, 2025, our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend Trenten Black was killed in Moss Landing, California. Trenten was not out for recreation — he was working as a commercial fisherman, making his living doing what he loved most: fishing.
We have been told by multiple people — and believe there may be video evidence — that Joshua Holtzclaw struck Trenten’s boat and then struck Trenten himself while he was defenseless in the water. As Trenten’s family and community, we want to be sure that all available evidence is fully considered and reflected in the charges brought forward.
We, the undersigned, are calling on Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine Pacioni to:
Pursue the fullest charges possible against Joshua Holtzclaw for Trenten’s death.
Recognize Trenten as a working commercial fisherman, not a recreational boater, and ensure this fact is reflected in how the case is handled.
Keep the family and community consistently informed of the status and direction of the case.
Trenten’s loss has left his family shattered and his community deeply shaken. He was well-known and loved by many — both in the fishing community and beyond. His death is not just a private tragedy, but a public one, and justice must be fully pursued.
We urge DA Pacioni and her office to stand with Trenten’s family and the community that loved him by ensuring accountability and justice in this case.
Please sign and share this petition to show that Trenten’s life mattered, his community cares, and justice must be served.
