Glendy Marisol González de la Cruz and Nixon Giovanni Pérez Paz built a life in Overland, Missouri, with their three daughters. After Nixon was deported to Guatemala in 2025, Glendy was left to raise their kids and pay the bills alone.

Around that time, ICE was urging immigrants to leave the country voluntarily, telling them to "Leave on your OWN terms," according to a September 2025 ICE social media post. Exhausted and unable to keep her family afloat, Glendy took that advice.

In June 2026, she flew to Guatemala with their daughters to reunite with Nixon.

Five weeks later, the couple's bodies were discovered in a nearby sugarcane field, bound and shot. Their 14-month-old daughter was found crying and dehydrated beside them. No suspect or motive has been named publicly.

Self-deportation was sold as the safer path. For this family, it wasn't. Their three daughters are now being raised by relatives across two countries, without answers about why their parents are gone.

This petition calls on the Department of Homeland Security and ICE to end the self-deportation push that told this family leaving was their safest option, and to answer honestly for what happens to families who follow that advice. It also calls on Congress to make sure Glendy and Nixon's three daughters get real, lasting support, not more empty promises of safety.
