Imagine rushing to the store leaving

your beloved pet at home, only to return to a scene of horror. This was the nightmare my friend faced when her senior Chihuahua-Pomeranian mix, a gentle and beloved companion, was brutally murdered. This little dog, who was so old that her tiny mouth was nearly emptied of teeth, and her tongue hung out perpetually, was a picture of happiness and health. Her life was ended viciously when a man struck her repeatedly in the head with a fire extinguisher. My friend returned to find her cherished pet lying lifeless in a pool of blood.

This horrific act was not just a crime against an animal but a cruel and heartless attack on a family member. As many of us consider our pets to be members of our families, the pain and trauma caused by such senseless violence is immeasurable. The current legal system often fails to hold perpetrators accountable for the violence against animals that it does to humans. This is unacceptable.
