The Issue

On June 11, 2026, officers executing a search warrant at a residence in Central Point, Oregon found 80 cats living in conditions so severe that investigators had to wear Tyvek suits and respirators to enter the property. Some of the cats were already dead.

Oregon Humane Society transported the surviving animals to their Portland facility for emergency veterinary care. The cats remain unavailable for adoption while the criminal investigation continues. Central Point Police Lieutenant Josh Abbott said he had not encountered animal abuse "on this level" in over 15 years of law enforcement.

The suspect faces charges of first-degree animal abuse, first-degree animal neglect, and multiple counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment. She was listed as president of a recently formed organization called Saving Hearts Animal Rescue — a name that stands in painful contrast to what was found inside that home.

Eighty cats. Hazmat gear. Some who didn't make it. And a person who presented herself to the public as an animal rescuer.

We are calling on the Jackson County District Attorney's Office to pursue every charge in full. No reductions, no quiet resolutions. These animals — the ones who survived and the ones who didn't — deserve accountability.

Sign this petition to demand full prosecution and justice for every cat rescued from that Central Point home.
