Demand Justice for Raymond: Terminate and Prosecute Fire Comissioner for Animal Cruelty

Demand Justice for Raymond: Terminate and Prosecute Fire Comissioner for Animal Cruelty
The Issue
Raymond, a blind and elderly raccoon, frequently visited the Fire Department Headquarters, where he was petted and fed by firefighters who had grown fond of him. However, one afternoon, an act of unthinkable cruelty took place. Fire Commissioner Calvi called the police to shoot Raymond. When they refused due to no signs of erratic or dangerous behavior from the raccoon, Calvi took matters into his own hands. In a shocking display of disregard for life and law, he ran over Raymond multiple times with a 6,000 plus lbs City SUV causing him to suffer a slow and painful death. Despite the entire ordeal being witness by the police and captured on video tape (trigger warning), Calvi lied to the media and law enforcement, claiming that the raccoon was rabid and he had Raymond's remains disposed of in a manner in which they could not be retrieved and tested.
This incident is not only deeply heartbreaking but also illegal under Massachusetts law which prohibits intentional animal cruelty (Massachusetts General Laws Part IV Title I Chapter 272 Section 77). Yet despite this clear violation of state law, no action has been taken against Commissioner Calvi.
We are calling on local authorities to uphold justice for Raymond by terminating Fire Commissioner Calvi from his position and pressing charges against him for animal cruelty. This is not just about one raccoon; it's about setting an example that such blatant disregard for life will not be tolerated in our community.
Please sign this petition to demand justice for Raymond – because every creature deserves respect and kindness.
