The Issue

I have dedicated the last 15 years of my life to animal welfare and operate a dog rescue. Witnessing the tragedy of K9 Officer Georgia's death has left me heartbroken and enraged. On July 14th, in Dade County, Georgia, this brave canine was subjected to an agonizing demise after being left unattended in a patrol car for six hours. Her handler, Deputy Ben Marrow was inside the police station during this time.

K9 Georgia was not just a dog; she was a cherished member of our law enforcement family, committed to serving and protecting our community. Her death was not an accident; it was a gross negligence of duty and care. This incident points to a broader systemic issue that needs addressing to ensure such preventable tragedies do not occur again.

It is imperative that this case be turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) for a thorough and unbiased investigation. This is not only about justice for Georgia, but about ensuring accountability within our law enforcement agencies. Charges must be filed against Deputy Marrow to serve as a deterrent for future neglect of police animals.

Statistics show that hundreds of animals suffer heat-related deaths every year in the U.S. It's crucial to implement mandatory safety protocols, such as temperature alarms and mandatory checks, in all police and service vehicles. Ensuring the safety of service animals is non-negotiable.

Please join me in demanding justice for K9 Officer Georgia. Let's push for systemic changes to protect our loyal service animals in the future and hold those accountable for their care. Sign this petition to urge the authorities to take immediate action.
