Demand Justice for Jewel The Abandoned Pig!

Demand Justice for Jewel The Abandoned Pig!
The Issue
On the somber day of September 20th, 2024, a once calm and peaceful scene in Door County was marred by a brutal act of violence. Saving Snouts, a dedicated animal rescue group, was on site to save an abandoned pig, Jewel. Despite being prepared with a trailer for transport, and assurances by the Door County Sheriff's office that Jewel would only be tranquilized, an unthinkable act was committed. An officer, who proclaimed himself an "animal lover," shot Jewel twice!
This tragedy is more than just an isolated incident - it is a reflection of a deeper problem in how law enforcement handle situations involving animals. It is estimated that thousands of dogs are shot by police officers every year in the United States, although no official statistics are maintained (source: Washington Post, 2016). The unnecessary taking of Jewel's life falls within this cruel pattern.
Given the severity of this incident, this individual must face disciplinary action for the unnecessary murder of Jewel. Our demand is clear: we request that the officer involved be immediately suspended and dealt with accordingly for this abhorrent act. No animal, be it an abandoned pig like Jewel or any other creature, who has a dedicated and prepared crew ready for rescue, should ever fall victim to such callous violence.
Join us in our quest for justice for Jewel. Your signature can show that we, as a community, refuse to tolerate such unspeakable acts against our voiceless friends. Sign the petition today.
