Demand justice for Jessica and Stoney: stop lenient plea deal
The Issue
My heart breaks as I write these words. My daughter Jessica, a young mother of four beautiful children under the age of 11, was cruelly taken from us. Alongside her, my nephew Stoney was also brutally killed. They were both innocent victims of an unimaginable act of violence - murdered in cold blood by Isaiah Brown.
This horrifying tragedy has devastated our family and left a huge void in our lives. My daughter and nephew were cherished, loved, and did not deserve to have their lives stolen from them. Jessica’s children now face a heartbreaking future without their mother, and Stoney’s two-year-old daughter is left without her father. This senseless act has forever changed the course of their young innocent lives.
Isaiah Brown, the suspect, executed a calculated robbery and fired 13-14 shots, intentionally claiming the lives of my loved ones. This wasn't an accident or a crime of passion – it was a cold-blooded, deliberate act. After committing this heinous crime, Isaiah did not show any remorse. Instead, he attempted to evade justice by hiding in a home, which he burned down during a violent shootout with law enforcement. San Juan County residents watched in horror as this unfolded.
Moreover, while in jail, he has amassed further felony charges, showing a clear disregard for the law and a propensity for violence. Despite this, the District Attorney is considering a plea deal that would reduce Isaiah Brown's charges from first-degree to second-degree murder, significantly decreasing his sentence. This is an injustice not only to our family but to the community, who deserves to see criminals held accountable for their actions.
The offer of this lenient plea deal sends a dangerous message that such brutal crimes go unpunished. We demand that the District Attorney act in the interest of justice and refuse this plea deal, allowing the case to proceed to trial for first-degree murder. Isaiah Brown should not be given the opportunity to evade the full consequences of his actions. Jessica, Stoney, and their children deserve the highest form of justice that the legal system can provide.
Your signature supports this request for a fair and just legal process. Please stand with us in demanding accountability and justice for Jessica and Stoney. Together we can press for the District Attorney to pursue the highest charges possible, reflecting the severity of Isaiah Brown's actions. Sign this petition to uphold justice and honor the memory of Jessica and Stoney.
