The Issue

On a tragic day in a community in Jos Plateau State ((Bauchi Ring Road), a young and promising 25-year-old student named Ibrahim Mbaya, affectionately known as Ibee, was brutally beaten to death over a false accusation of stealing an iPhone 12. This heinous act took place in a compound where, shockingly, instead of stepping in to halt the madness or summon help, the onlookers laughed, filmed and made jokes as they watched an innocent life slip away.

Three individuals have been apprehended by the Nigerian Police and are facing possible homicide charges. However, this cannot and must not be the end of the story. Every single person present during this lynching bears a share of the guilt for Ibrahim's death. Their inaction, and indeed their participation through jeers, filming and laughter, must be addressed by law to serve justice and deter such barbarism in the future.

We are calling upon the Nigerian Police to expand their investigation to include all those who passively yet significantly contributed to this crime. They must be held responsible as accomplices and face prosecution alongside the perpetrators. Moreover, we demand that the prosecution's process be made public to reassure the everyone most especially Ibee's family, friends and well wishers that justice is genuinely being pursued.

Holding every party accountable is crucial for Ibrahim's justice and to prevent future senseless acts of violence. By taking this step, we remind our nation and the world that standing by as an innocent life is unjustly taken is as grave as committing the act itself.

Please sign this petition to demand that the Nigerian Police exhaust all avenues to ensure that justice is served fully and transparently for Ibrahim Mbaya. Let us stand up against such injustice and restore faith in our ability to protect the most vulnerable in our society. Let us demand real change in how we respond to violence and helplessness.

By signing and sharing this petition, you are not only seeking justice for Ibrahim Mbaya, but also joining a call for society's conscience to rise against indifference and support a movement towards action and justice.
