The Aurora Animal Shelter team placed Fred in the FFA program despite having a sanctuary ready to provide him with a better quality of life. This sanctuary, Chris P's Rescue and Rehabilitation, committed to taking Fred in but was overlooked during his placement. This decision disrupts his life and disregards the opportunity for him to thrive in a more suitable environment.

Studies consistently confirm that pigs exhibit sophisticated cognitive abilities, problem-solving aptitude, and social intelligence that rival primates and 3 to 4-year-old HUMAN children. Their remarkable capacity for learning, memory retention, and emotional expression underscores their status as sentient beings with deeply complex inner experiences. They deserve environments where they can thrive physically and emotionally. The FFA program may provide educational opportunities for students, but it fails to meet the needs of animals like Fred.
