Demand Justice for Fred the Pig and His Immediate Release from FFA Program

Demand Justice for Fred the Pig and His Immediate Release from FFA Program
The Issue
As advocates for animal welfare within the farmed animal sanctuary community, we share an intense and collective commitment to advocating for the immediate transfer of Fred, the pig, to Chris P's Rescue and Rehabilitation. This endeavor is deeply aligned with our shared values and principles, which promote compassion, respect, and the well-being of all living beings.
Fred's current situation, held within the Future Farmers of America (FFA) high school program in Eads, Colorado, touches our hearts deeply. His circumstances are far from ideal and do not align with the Ahimsa principles we hold dear – principles centered on non-violence and boundless compassion toward all living beings.
This petition represents a united effort on behalf of all farmed animal sanctuaries, bound together by a shared vision dedicated to advocating for animals and championing their welfare.
Having previously been kept as a pet, Fred faces an even more challenging adjustment by being placed into the FFA program. The Aurora Animal Shelter team placed Fred in the FFA program despite having a sanctuary ready to provide him with a better quality of life. This sanctuary, Chris P's Rescue and Rehabilitation, committed to taking Fred in but was overlooked during his placement. This decision disrupts his life and disregards the opportunity for him to thrive in a more suitable environment.
Studies consistently confirm that pigs exhibit sophisticated cognitive abilities, problem-solving aptitude, and social intelligence that rival primates and 3 to 4-year-old HUMAN children. Their remarkable capacity for learning, memory retention, and emotional expression underscores their status as sentient beings with deeply complex inner experiences. They deserve environments where they can thrive physically and emotionally. The FFA program may provide educational opportunities for students, but it fails to meet the needs of animals like Fred.
We believe that animals deserve respect and care. By signing this petition, you are not just supporting Fred’s immediate transfer from the FFA program to Chris P's Rescue and Rehabilitation. You are also standing up against inappropriate animal placements that disregard their well-being.
By signing this petition, we unite in our shared dedication to making these changes a reality. This collective effort represents farmed animal sanctuaries, advocates for animal rights, and all individuals who believe in the fundamental principles of compassion, respect, and the well-being of all living beings.
