Demand Justice for Errol Graham

The Issue

Errol Graham, a 57-year-old man with severe mental health issues, tragically starved to death after his benefits were stopped. This heartbreaking event occurred in the UK in 2018 and is a stark reminder of how our system can fail those most vulnerable among us. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) cut off his Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), despite knowing about his severe mental illness. This led to Mr. Graham's tragic death, weighing just 4 stone 5lbs when he was found by officials.

The DWP's own rules state that they should have made every reasonable effort to contact Mr. Graham before stopping his benefits - but this did not happen (source: Independent Case Examiner’s report). We must ensure that such an incident never happens again.

We are calling on the government to conduct a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding Errol Graham's death and implement changes in policy to protect individuals suffering from mental health issues from falling through the cracks of our social security system.

It is time we demand justice for Errol Graham and take measures to ensure no one else suffers a similar fate due to systemic negligence or oversight. Please sign this petition today!
