I am a resident of Fork Retch Community in Mullins, South Carolina,  and like many of you, I  treasure companionship of my dog every single day.  Most of us are or have been dog owners . My heart was shattered when I learned about the horrific death of Dusty, a loving 6-year-old Boykin Spaniel beloved by our community. Dusty was an innocent soul who was tragically stalked, shot, and killed on Wildlife Action Road while in the presence of his owner. This act of violence is not just an attack on Dusty and his owner but an affront to our entire community's sense of safety and justice.

We are faced with a grave injustice. Kenneth Jackson, the individual responsible for Dusty's death, has yet to face the legal consequences for his actions. This lack of accountability sends a chilling message that such acts can go unpunished, potentially placing other pets and residents at risk. This is why we need the Office of the Solicitor to file and vigorously prosecute charges against Kenneth Jackson without further delay.

Prosecution of this case isn't just about seeking justice for Dusty; it is about ensuring the safety and protection of all pets and residents in Marion County. Statistics indicate that animal cruelty can often escalate into violence against humans, which makes addressing and prosecuting such cases all the more urgent. For the safety of our beloved pets and the peace of mind of every community member, we cannot afford to wait any longer.

We urge the Office of the Solicitor to take immediate action and prosecute Kenneth Jackson to the fullest extent of the law. By doing so, we can honor Dusty’s memory and reinforce our community's commitment to justice.
