Demand justice for Derek James Bush's 1978 kidnapping

Demand justice for Derek James Bush's 1978 kidnapping
The Issue
https://floodlit.org/a/a890/ In 1978, my little brother, Derek James Bush, was kidnapped and endured severe abuse. The perpetrators, religious authorities with connections to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, remain free. Many are hiding in Utah, shielded by legal support from the church, and alarmingly, continue to serve in positions close to children. This is not just a personal tragedy; it is a matter of public safety.
The Los Angeles Attorney General has the power and responsibility to hold these kidnappers, their accomplices, and accessories accountable for their actions. Derek's case has remained unresolved for far too long. Despite the availability of evidence, which includes testimonies from survivors and those aware of these horrific events, justice has not been served.
Statistics reveal that holding perpetrators accountable significantly reduces the recurrence of abuse. Victims deserve closure, and the risk of ongoing abuse to other children must be eradicated. We ask the Attorney General to investigate thoroughly and take necessary legal actions against the individuals involved in Derek's case.
Furthermore, churches should not be safe harbors for criminals. The continuous presence of these individuals in positions of power within their communities poses a latent threat to our children. By bringing them to justice, we can ensure a safer environment and deter further abuses by exposing any protective mechanisms that enable such crimes.
To make our communities safer and grant peace to those affected, we need your support. Sign this petition urging the Los Angeles Attorney General to take immediate action. With enough voices, we can push for the accountability needed to protect our society, prevent further abuse, and finally achieve justice for Derek James Bush.
