Our children's safety is increasingly becoming a concern in our society. As a parent, this issue is personal and close to my heart. We have a child, and the rampant insecurity leads us to question their safety at every turn. A prime example of this rising insecurity is the case of Cwecwe, an innocent victim of this growing menace. We elected our leaders with the trust that they would act decisively in enhancing the safety of our children. Regrettably, this trust seems to have been mislaid. According to United Nations' latest report on Children and Armed Conflict (UN, 2019), the number of children affected by violence worldwide increased by 10% in the past year. This reiterates the dire need for a collective effort to ensure our children grow up in a safe and conducive environment.

This is a cry for justice for Cwecwe, but also a plea for the safety of all other children. We ask our leaders to take immediate and definitive actions to step up security measures, instigate stern actions against the perpetrators, and put in place proactive strategies to prevent future incidence.
