Demand Justice for Chris Kaba
Why this petition matters

On Monday 5th September 2022 Chris Kaba was tragically murdered at the hands of police, following a pursuit by firearm officers who collided into his car, and fired a round of gunshots into his car. Chris was taken to hospital where he later died that night. Chris Kaba was unarmed, and no other firearms were found at the scene.
Chris was only 24-years-old and was due to be married in 5 months, with his first child on the way. He was studying to become an architect, and at such a young age had already been a rising star within the music industry. Having been part of the MOBO nominated group 67.
Chris has become the 1,883rd person to be killed by police since 1990, he is the third person in three months to be killed by police.
The police have passed on the case to the Independent Office of Police Conduct and the family have already had two out of four demands met. Immediately after Chris's story hit the news the IOPC buckled under pressure and agreed to the demand of launching a homicidal investigation. They have also now agreed to suspend the officer who killed Chris. However, this officer is still on full pay, as is custom for most suspensions. The IOPC have now agreed to release the body-cam footage worn during the incident and have confirmed a timeline of how long the investigation will take.
The family have now asked for the follow:
1. Did the suspended officer who killed Chris know that it was Chris in the car, or were they just pursuing a suspect vehicle?
2. The suspended officer must be interviewed under caution without delay and for the family to be kept informed of this.
3. The decision must be reached within WEEKS not MONTHS.
We must continue putting pressure on the IOPC to ensure that Chris's family have their demands met. In a statement last week they said "We are devastated; we need answers and we need accountability. We are worried that if Chris had not been Black, he would have been arrested on Monday evening and not had his life cut short."
