As advocates for the freedom of pigs across Australia, we are deeply disturbed by the recent incident at the Midland Bacon Pig Farm and Pork Facility. A sow was violated by a factory worker in an act of bestiality, a crime that has shocked our community and reminded us of the urgent need to protect these sentient beings from harm.

Pigs are not just livestock; they are intelligent creatures, ranking as the 4th smartest on our planet. They deserve respect, safety, and freedom from cruelty. This particular sow has suffered immensely in a farrowing cage and endured an unthinkable act of violence. The trauma she experienced is unimaginable.

We call upon both the Midland Bacon Piggery as well as the Victorian Government to release this abused sow into our or another sanctuary's care. Where, she will live out her days safe from harm, free from suffering in cages or enduring such cruel acts again.

Furthermore, we urge Victorian police to pursue charges against this worker under laws prohibiting bestiality. Such actions must be held accountable under law enforcement's watchful eye to deter future incidents like this one.
