Demand justice for abused horses at Muddy Waters Ranch

Demand justice for abused horses at Muddy Waters Ranch
The Issue
I have countless stories of horses that I've trained and loved, many rescued from difficult, neglectful, and abusive situations. The bond formed with these magnificent creatures and the joy of seeing them flourish in a safe environment is unparalleled. Fighting Chance Rescue is committed to being the voice for those horses when they can't advocate for themselves.
The recent decision by the courts in Hamilton County, Ohio, to return 15 horses to Muddy Waters Ranch after the Hamilton County Warden initially removed them due to severe neglect and abuse is shocking and dangerous. This decision stems from a technical error regarding the absence of a search warrant, yet it overlooks the primary concern: the welfare of these innocent horses.
The horses in question were taken away because they were severely mistreated, starved, and left in uninhabitable conditions. Not just Fighting Chance Rescue but the entire equine community witnessed their deteriorated state. Returning them to the same environment spells a grim future for their already fragile existence.
Studies and reports confirm that horses under such stressful and abusive situations suffer lifelong consequences. According to the Humane Society, neglected and abused animals often exhibit long-term health issues, injury complications, and a high mortality rate if returned to abusive environments. These horses’ health deteriorated due to the neglect they suffered at Muddy Waters Ranch.
This isn't just about legal technicalities—it's about making sure these horses have a fighting chance at life. Reconsidering the court's decision is paramount. We must ensure these horses find safety and care at our rescue, where they will be rehabilitated and loved, free from the oppressive past that threatened their lives.
Please, stand with us. Sign this petition to urge the Hamilton County judiciary to reconsider their decision and ensure these horses are placed in a compassionate and caring environment where they can truly heal and live their lives to the fullest. Together, we can be the voice these horses so desperately need.
