The Issue

Thomas Austin Griffith, an intelligent and strong man, has been unjustly incarcerated in the Talladega County Jail since October 31, 2024. He was booked on a pending murder charge under troubling circumstances. The authorities repeatedly assured him that he would be released before the birth of our son in December 2024, but as of October 15, 2025, he remains behind bars, unable to hold his ten-month-old son.

Thomas is not a cold-blooded criminal, but a devoted partner and father who acted under extreme duress. The grave charges against him arose because he was responding to a direct threat against the life of his unborn child and fiancée. In our pursuit of justice, we cannot forget the context and humanity of those we seek to condemn.

The local justice system has made promises that remain unfulfilled and it's time to hold them accountable. It is unjust for a father to be separated from his family based on accusations made in response to a life-threatening situation.

We call upon the residents of Heflin, AL and surrounding communities to stand with us. We seek transparency, a thorough review of Thomas' case, and his immediate release. By signing this petition, you are supporting a family torn apart by an ambiguous justice system. Demand justice for Thomas Austin Griffith today and help reunite him with his family. Sign this petition to make your voice heard.
