Yet, instead of restoring his freedom and dignity, the San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins and the San Francisco Sheriff's Department have kept him in solitary confinement, and to add insult to injury, they have unjustly seized his belongings. This case is a travesty and highlights a corruption that cannot go unchallenged.

San Francisco prides itself on its history of social justice and progressive values, yet stories like my friend's reveal a disturbing hypocrisy within its justice system.
