In Trenton, Georgia, more than 260 animals—mostly dogs—were discovered in horrific conditions, with many already dead and the rest severely neglected. This is the fifth hoarding case in just two weeks in northwest Georgia. Yet, no one has been charged.

This is unacceptable.

Despite the massive rescue effort involving six counties, local rescues, and volunteers who worked through the night, justice for these animals remains uncertain. The property was described as being in an “extreme state of neglect.” Dogs and cats were found filthy, matted, and traumatized. And still—no charges.

Animal cruelty this severe cannot go unanswered. We demand that the Georgia Department of Agriculture and Dade County officials immediately file and pursue felony charges against those responsible. We also call for the creation of a regional animal control agency in Dade County to prevent future tragedies like this one.

This wasn’t just a case of neglect—it was cruelty on a massive scale. The animals deserve better. Georgia deserves better.
