Demand Julianna Margulies' Removal from 'The Morning Show' for being a racist/Islamophobic
The Issue
As a member of a family originating from the middle east, I am deeply hurt and offended by the racist and Islamophobic comments made by actress Julianna Margulies on The Backroom with Andy Ostroy.
She specifically stated:
"Because the fact that the entire Black community isn’t standing with us, to me, says either they just don’t know, or they’ve been brainwashed to hate Jews."
“And as someone who plays a lesbian journalist on ‘The Morning Show,’ I am more offended by it as a lesbian than I am as a Jew, to be honest with you,” she said. “Because I wanna say to them, ‘You f---ing idiots. You don’t exist. Like, you’re even lower than the Jews. A, you’re Black, and B, you’re gay, and you’re turning your back against the people who support you?’"
“It’s those kids who are spewing this antisemitic hate that have no idea if they stepped foot in an Islamic country — these people who want us to call them they/them, or whatever they want us to call them, which I have respectfully really made a point of doing,” she said, adding, “It’s those people that will be the first people beheaded, and their heads played with [like] a soccer ball, like a soccer ball on the field.”
This is not just about my personal feelings; it's about the millions of Muslims around the world who are subjected to hate speech and discrimination. According to Pew Research Center, in 2019, there were approximately 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide (Pew Research Center). These individuals deserve respect and understanding, not derogatory remarks from influential figures like Margulies.
In light of this incident, we demand that Apple TV+, which airs 'The Morning Show', take immediate action against Margulies for her harmful comments. We believe that such behavior should not be tolerated in any form or platform as it perpetuates harmful stereotypes and fuels bigotry.
We urge you to stand with us against this act of Islamophobia. Sign our petition today to show Apple TV+ that we will not tolerate hate speech in our entertainment industry.
