We, a family deeply affected, are raising our voice not just for ourselves but for countless families who have experienced undue hardship due to the intervention of Social Services, often under the guise of Child Protection Conferences. Our family, who've had our lives scrutinised, have endured our familial bonds strained, and matters worsened by the rather delay in proper initiatives for our child's educational struggles and needs. Despite pleading for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAHMS) referrals during primary school, our concerns were ignored until the high school phase.

Post this, the sudden and intense involvement of Social Services, which promised aid, instead, resulted in a gross intrusion into our lives. They had an unbalanced focus on our home environment, without care or consideration for our individual circumstances, including a father struggling with disabilities. This lack of sensitivity and discernment led to unfortunate circumstances where even a job was lost.

We express this painful experience to highlight the need for reform in how Social Services engage with families, especially in matters of child protection. Objectivity, sensitivity, respect for personal circumstances, and genuine help without damaging the fabric of family life should be paramount. We demand a thorough investigation into these agencies' practices, particularly the reporting and documentation process that leads up to Child Protection Conferences.
