My husband has been incarcerated at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) Forest in Marrienville, PA for almost four years. Despite his non-violent crime, he is held in a maximum-security prison where we, his family, have not been allowed to see him physically. The conditions at SCI Forest are far from humane; corruption runs rampant while abuse and neglect are commonplace. The treatment our loved ones endure is not only unjust but also inhuman - a stark violation of basic human rights principles that every individual deserves regardless of their mistakes.

The government must investigate these allegations promptly and thoroughly. It's crucial that they ensure re-training programs for existing staff members while firing those who perpetuate this cycle of abuse. If necessary, new staff should be hired who respect the dignity and rights of all inmates.

We cannot stand by as our loved ones suffer under such conditions; it's time to demand reform not just for SCI Forest but all prisons across Pennsylvania – because everyone makes mistakes but no one deserves to be treated less than human.
