I am a resident of Hamilton, ON, Canada who had the unfortunate experience of being involved in a collision at the intersection of Hwy 52 and Powerline Rd. This incident was not only terrifying for me but also for my daughter who was with me. Our story is not unique. Just recently, two innocent lives were lost in a fatal collision at this very intersection.

This dangerous crossroad has been the site of numerous accidents over the years due to its poor design and heavy traffic flow. The city's lackadaisical approach towards this issue has cost us dearly in terms of lives lost and injuries sustained.

Roundabouts have been proven to significantly reduce both the number and severity of collisions as they force drivers to slow down while entering an intersection (source: Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). By installing one here, we can make our roads safer for everyone - drivers, cyclists, pedestrians alike. This intersection is shared with the Hamilton rail trail and sees numerous foot traffic daily. 

We cannot wait until another life is lost or another family is shattered before action is taken. It's time for our city officials to prioritize safety over convenience by passing a motion to install a roundabout at Hwy 52 and Powerline Rd as soon as possible.
