These networks increase the visibility of animals in need, and in numerous cases, they save lives. Yet, this channel of support is being undermined. Instagram frequently restricts and removes comments related to the use of rescue-oriented hashtags, tags of sanctuaries, and pledges of financial support to rescues.

This restrictions hampers the collective efforts of millions of people worldwide who come together to help animals in distress. With rescues and sanctuaries working beyond capacity, and millions of animals of various species facing dire circumstances every year due to a lack of resources, networking through social platforms is now more crucial than ever.

What's more, Instagram's interference impairs our ability to transport these animals to less inundated areas. It hampers the chances of these innocent lives ending up in loving homes, fosters, rescues, or sanctuaries.

Through this petition, we insist that Instagram re-assess their policy on rescue-focused interactions. We firmly urge them to allow the usage of hashtags and tags thereby promoting and supporting animal rescues and sanctuaries.
