Our family is devastated. We entrusted the safety and well-being of our beloved dog and her 10 newborn puppies to the Cameron County Animal Shelter in San Benito after a misunderstanding led Animal Control to take them from us. Our dog did NOT bite anyone, yet she and her puppies were taken away. After two agonizing weeks, only six puppies were returned to us without any explanation as to what happened to the other four.

The animals we got back were in a deplorable state—severely dehydrated, malnourished, and clearly neglected. The puppies have suffered and started dying, and tragically, our cherished dog has now passed away. This is not only heart-breaking for our family but highlights a grave issue of negligence at the Cameron County Animal Shelter.

The lack of transparency and accountability is outrageous. No pet owner should experience this kind of neglect from an institution meant to protect our animals. We demand that Texas health officials urgently inspect the Cameron County Animal Shelter to uncover the truth and prevent any more innocent animals from suffering.
