Demand Inclusion of Creationist Theory in Textbooks Alongside Evolutionary Theory

The Issue

The current educational system in the United States presents evolutionary theory as a fact, often without acknowledging its status as a theory. This approach is based on the close resemblance of species' genetic codes or chromosome numbers, suggesting that one species evolved from another. However, this remains an unproven belief system that is taught in many textbooks. We believe it's crucial to provide students with a balanced view on this subject matter by including creationist theory alongside evolutionary theory.

Creationism offers an alternative perspective on the origin of life and speciation, which many people subscribe to based on their religious beliefs or philosophical viewpoints. It's important for our education system to respect and represent these perspectives equally.

According to a PRII census conducted in 2021, approximately 72% of Americans believe in creationism (PRII, 2021). This significant portion of the population deserves representation within our education system.

We are not asking for any belief system to be imposed upon students but rather for them to be presented with various theories so they can make informed decisions about what they choose to believe.

We urge the US government and educational authorities to ensure that all textbooks mentioning evolutionary theory also include information about creationist theory. Please sign this petition if you support academic balance and respect for diverse beliefs.
