The Issue

Driving on Fugate Road in Del Rio, TN has become a critical safety hazard. For residents and visitors, this road is a vital link to homes, family, and emergency care. Today, it stands in severe disrepair—putter-patched with temporary "band-aids" while the underlying structure crumbles.

Critical Safety & Emergency Risks

  • Severe Erosion: Following Hurricane Helene in 2024 and the severe storm on July 11, 2026, large portions of Fugate Road collapsed or washed away entirely.
  • Blocked Emergency Response: With Fugate Road nearly impassable and ongoing construction on Hwy 25–70 causing 1-mile traffic backups at Wolf Creek Bridge, emergency personnel face extreme delays reaching homes for medical emergencies or fires.
  • Rising Accidents: Local police data shows a noticeable increase in accidents caused directly by these unaddressed hazards.

Financial Impact & Accountability
Beyond daily danger, these road conditions harm local property values and prevent homeowners from selling or refinancing. Meanwhile, concerns grow over local governance—including reports of a local chairman moving $77,000 of Helene relief funds into a bank account without board approval.

Del Rio residents deserve transparency, accountability, and safe infrastructure.

Our Call to Action
We, the undersigned residents and community members, demand immediate, permanent repairs to Fugate Road by Cocke County and state authorities.
