My daughter, like many others, is a resident of the Yugo Austin Waterloo at 2400 Seton Avenue, Austin, TX 78705. Every day, she faces the ordeal of waiting for long periods of up to 20 minutes or more for access to only two out of four functioning elevators. In some unfortunate instances, residents are forced to walk the stairs – a staggering 30 floors. 

This is not an isolated event, but a recurrent problem. Elevators in the building are persistently non-functional, with repairs not conducted in a timely manner, if at all. It is hard to fathom such lack of basic services especially when a functioning elevator is not a luxury but a necessity. 

Statistically, elevators are the safest form of transportation, with a 0.00000015% chance of failure (source: Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Consumer Product Safety Commission). This tells us that the frequent outages experienced at Yugo Austin Waterloo are not a common phenomenon and are, in fact, due to neglect and a lack of maintenance.

This is a plea to the management of Yugo Austin Waterloo. We urge you to take immediate action to address this situation. Residents should not have to endure such inconvenience in their place of residence. They deserve to have a reliable and timely method to move between floors in their building.
