The Issue

On March 5, 2026, Sharon Claire Price was sentenced for the unspeakable cruelty inflicted upon 23 cats, eight of which died from their horrific injuries. These innocent animals were found trapped in a wheelie bin, suffering intensely before their unjust demise. It's unimaginable that any human could cause such suffering, but what is truly appalling is the leniency of the sentence handed down by the court.

Price received a mere four-month suspended sentence, meaning she faces no prison time unless she commits another crime. Additionally, she was fined £1,000, a paltry sum that fails to reflect the gravity of her actions or serve as a deterrent to others. This light punishment is not only an insult to the victims but also to those who fight tirelessly for animal rights and justice.

The Cats Protection League and many animal welfare organizations are rightly outraged, pointing out that such a sentence fails to deter future offenders and sends a dangerous message that animal cruelty is not taken seriously by our justice system.

Animal cruelty is a serious criminal offense, and it's crucial that we hold offenders accountable with arable punishments that fit the crime. A message must be sent that society will not tolerate such heinous acts against innocent creatures. We are calling on the justice system to impose a harsher punishment on Sharon Claire Price that fits the severity of the crime, including immediate prison time and a lifetime ban on owning or caring for any animals.

The psychological trauma and physical suffering endured by these cats cannot be undone, but we can honor their lives by ensuring their abuser faces consequences that reflect the severity of her actions. We must also protect other animals from future harm by ensuring Price can never repeat these offenses.

We call for an immediate review of this unduly lenient sentence. We demand that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and the Attorney General intervene to ensure:

Immediate Custody: The 4-month suspended sentence must be replaced with a multi-year, immediate prison term that reflects the loss of 8 lives and the torture of 15 survivors.

A Harsher Financial Penalty: A £1,000 fine is a "slap on the wrist." The fine should be significantly increased to cover the full costs of the RSPCA’s rescue, medical care, and rehoming of the surviving cats.

A Lifetime Ban: Sharon Price must be banned from owning, keeping, or living with any animal for the rest of her life. A 10-year ban is a risk to the community and future pets.

We cannot allow the torture of 23 helpless animals to be met with such a light punishment. We demand a sentence that serves as a true deterrent.

Please sign this petition to demand true justice for the 23 cats tortured by Sharon Claire Price. Insist that our legal system take a firm stance against animal cruelty and set a precedent that these crimes will not be tolerated. Together, we can advocate for stronger protections and justice for all animals.
