For the sake of those who care deeply about the well-being of our animals, like myself, an avid animal care advocate, I cannot stand by as puppies are cruelly treated. Upon frequent visits to the Best Friends Forever Puppies store, I have been confronted with the sight of small, innocent puppies confined to pens, the joy visibly fading from their eyes as they wait day after day, week after week, in hopes of being adopted. The heartbreaking sight of them losing hope, thinking they may never find a warm, welcoming home, haunts me, as they are left helplessly confined within the same cramped spaces for long periods.

The store's unusually high prices for these puppies only serves to delay their adoption further, resulting in them being stuck in pens for even longer periods. This cruel practice needs to halt. The psychological and physical well-being of these animals is being severely compromised, with a lack of exercise and the absence of outdoor exposure.

Based on a study by the Humane Society, extended durations of confinement and lack of exercise can contribute to both behavioural and health issues in dogs (Humane Society, 2019). This lack of care can lead to detrimental effects on the emotions and physical health of dogs, causing them unnecessary pain and suffering.

We demand Best Friends Forever Puppies be defunded and replaced by a more feasible, humane solution to puppy adoption. This could include low-cost adoption or fostering initiatives, along with the necessary oversight to ensure that the dogs are given the right treatment, attention, and love they require to live a healthy and happy life.
