The peace of our community was shattered when a blatant threat was made against our children's school: a video was horrifyingly clear, stating the school name, the specified grade level, the date, and even the weapon in play. This unsettling incident personally afflicted my child, who studies at the threatened institution, placing our family in a state of unimaginable fear and concern. Astonishingly, despite the explicit danger highlighted in the threat, it seems authorities have not been treating it with the urgency it warrants. The person who recorded the video was arrested and released on bail. However the person making the threat was NOT at the time of this petition. Essentially both were out in society on the date of the indicated threat. 

This situation calls for a higher level of vigilance and robust measures against such threats. Cape Coral Police Department and The School District of Lee County we desperately need you to do better in helping to make our schools a safe place for our kids. 

We call upon our local law enforcement, school board, and the Department of Education to take immediate action. This should commence with the immediate arrest of the originator of this threat and the subsequent enhancement of school security mechanisms. Additionally, increased transparency in the handling of such threats and an update to the existing protocol is an imperative need. Our children's lives are not negotiable and their safety and security are of paramount importance.
