Demand Immediate Action to Rescue Spanish Mustangs from Neglect and Abuse

The Issue

URGENT UPDATE!!! July 12th, 2024

The local new stations have taken interest into this case. We have word from the DA of Bayfield County and said this case is still under investigation and she will make a decision whether or not to prosecute. FINGERS CROSSED she makes the right decision here these mustangs lives depend on it.

As far as we know NO horses have been returned to the property. We do know Kim Kingsley has been arrested for unknown charges and is currently sitting in Bayfield County Jail. WI CCAP has not charged him yet with anything, we don’t believe these charges are related to the investigation of the horses.

Please continue to support and pray the District Attorney hears our pleas to rescue the rest of the horses.

We also know now that several of the horses including foals have either died or been injured by wolves since the county has seized horses from the property. This wolf depredation has been going on for years at Kingsleys property and proof of it can be found on the public records of he Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Website.  This is not the Wolves fault by any means as far as we know there has been nothing done to protect these Spanish Mustangs from predatorily threat and they have been falling victim of this inhumane way to perish for many years.

We will continue to update this Petition as new information occurs please sign and share! Thank you to everyone who has made a stink about this and please keep praying!

URGENT UPDATE!!!

The Bayfield County Sheriff’s office has denied the request to pursue the charges against Kim Kinsley. All horses are to be returned from their foster home to the property owned by Dick Kaslow.

This is devasting news and we need to act fast to change the DA's mind.

Here is her EMAIL ADDRESS PLEASE BOMBARD THIS EMAIL WITH CONCERNS FOR THESE BEAUTIFUL CREATURES.

DISTRICT ATTORNEY KIMBERLY LAWTON:    BayfieldDA@da.wi.gov

BAYFIELD COUNTY SHEIRFF TONY WILLIAMS: 715-373-6300

It is now up to us the community to make our voices heard! We cannot back down from this fight! We plead for you to call and make a report about the abuse. We have drone footage and tons of pictures to prove these animals are being neglected and abused.

Please use verbage that sounds like this :

"I, NAME, am disturbed by the fact that Bayfield County DA is not pressing charges against Kim Kingsley for animal cruelty. I, as a Wisconsin resident (or any state) want charges to be pressed and these horses removed from the property of Dick Kaslow. The horses that were already removed should NOT be brought back to live in that hell again!"

I, along with countless other residents of Bayfield County and further have become increasingly concerned about a disturbing situation involving Spanish Mustangs in our community. These horses, under the so-called care of Kim Kingsley, (located on Dick Kalow's property in Cornucopia, WI) are experiencing terrible neglect and abuse daily. It has turned from a personal matter close to my heart into a community-wide issue that can no longer be ignored.

On June 10, 2024, the Bayfield County Sheriff's office seized numerous horses from some 70 acres of land in Cornucopia owned by Dick Kalow. The animal control administration was granted a warrant to seize all the horses located on this property. What myself and many others seen was nothing near what we imagined. Many of the horses were feral and in horrible conditions. There were many mares pregnant and many foals on the property that had serious wounds caused by poor living conditions. Many of the horses were sickly looking and skinny to the point of hip and rib bones protruding. There were also stallions in round pens not bigger than your living rooms standing in muck up to their knees never able to eat grass or drink fresh water. And I won't forget to mention the bones and skeletons hanging from trees like ornaments. The sight was gruesome and heartbreaking to see. As an avid horse lover and owner, I was appalled and knew I needed to continue to fight for these horses' lives, absolutely no animal should ever have to endure such mistreatment.

This event was the first time anyone seen the extent of a long SIX years of me reporting this neglect and abuse. And on this day, we were able to only seize 16 horses out of these horrid conditions. The horses are now safe and being taken care of by courageous foster homes while the investigation continues.

According to "The Horse Fund," almost 100,000 horses are neglected or abused each year in the United States alone. It is heart-breaking to see such magnificent creatures suffering right here in our community. Kim Kingsley, despite having the responsibility to provide these horses with proper care and protection, appears to have opted for their neglect and abuse instead.

These Spanish Mustangs located a short distance from your homes and our neighborhoods; symbolize America's living heritage. Spanish Mustangs, as stated by the "Spanish Mustang Registry," were brought to the Americas by Spanish explorers in the 16th century. Neglecting and abusing these creatures is not just a crime against animals; it's a breach of our cultural heritage.

We seek immediate intervention from relevant authorities to rescue the remaining horses and enact preventative measures to protect other animals from similar grim situations.

Join us in this fight against animal abuse and sign the petition. Your signature could make a monumental difference in the lives of these animals and serve as a deterrent for future possible cases of mistreatment. Together, we can ensure that Bayfield County stays a safe and nurturing place for all our animals. Sign this petition today!
