Demand IBA to update pension for bank retirees
The Issue
At 74 years old, I am facing a challenging time trying to make ends meet with my current pension. Like many of my fellow bank retirees, I have dedicated decades of my life to serving the banking industry with diligence and commitment. Yet today, as I grapple with mounting medical bills for my wife and everyday expenses, the inadequacy of our pensions has become a matter of urgent concern.
The Reserve Bank of India has recently revised the pension for its retirees, recognizing the need to address inflation and the cost of living. However, this crucial revision has not been extended to bank retirees under the purview of the Indian Banks' Association (IBA). We, who have been the backbone of the banking sector, deserve equitable treatment and the right to a dignified post-retirement life.
According to recent data, inflation in India has steadily increased, impacting the prices of basic goods and services. Retired employees often rely heavily on their pensions as their primary source of income. Discrepancies in pension updates between RBI and IBA retirees exacerbate financial hardships, particularly affecting those with fixed incomes and larger medical expenses like mine.
Pension updation isn't just a request; it is our right. Bank retirees have contributed significantly to the nation's financial stability and development. The disparity not only undermines our contributions but also leaves us vulnerable in times of need.
We urge the Indian Banks' Association to immediately update the pension plans for all bank retirees in line with those for RBI retirees. By doing so, the IBA will ensure fair treatment and help countless seniors lead a comfortable life without the constant anxiety of financial insecurity.
Let's bring attention to this critical issue and ensure justice for all bank retirees. We need your support to make this change happen. Please sign this petition and help us secure a better future for those who have served our banking industry with dedication and loyalty.
