Demand Harvard University to End Animal Testing and Relocate Affected Animals to Sanctuaries

The Issue

As a dedicated animal advocate, I am deeply distressed by the recent actions of Harvard University, a prestigious institution conventionally associated with progressive intellectual and moral values. It has come to light that Harvard continues to utilize reprehensible animal testing practices and even threatens euthanization of animals due to a lack of funding. This scenario is not only deeply unethical but drastically out of demand with current societal expectations for the humane treatment of animals.

Cost-effective and humane alternatives to animal testing exist. To enumerate, in vitro (test tube) experiment results correlate 75%-80% with human results, as compared to a mere 31%-65% for animal tests (American Anti-Vivisection Society). It is evident that abolishing animal testing is not only a moral responsibility but also scientifically advantageous.

Moreover, animal sanctuaries provide compassionate care and a natural environment for animals that have been victims of experimentation. These sanctuaries support rehabilitation and long-term care, enabling these animals to live the rest of their lives with dignity and freedom.

Therefore, I demand that Harvard University immediately terminate their animal testing operations and pledge to relocate the affected animals to accredited animal sanctuaries, thus preventing the needless euthanization threatened due to lost funding. This change will reflect not only a significant achievement for animal rights but also highlight Harvard University's commitment to ethical research practices and compassion.

Now is the time to stand against inhumane treatment of animals in research facilities. Join me in urging Harvard University to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Please sign and share this petition.
