Childhood trauma affects your entire life. The trauma can range anywhere from environmental, societal, emotional, physical, mental, sexual and for many, it's all of the above.

This not only affects their growth, how they learn, how to know who they want to be, who to trust, but it also affects their everyday life as an adult.

The number of untreated childhood trauma cases are going up on an upward trajectory. We need to ring the bell and draw the attention, and, as leaders, doing all we can do to prohibit any limitations as it relates to getting everything needed to properly treat those affected by childhood trauma.

Declaring a state of emergency on childhood trauma would provide:
• Training educators and social workers on the connection with childhood trauma and the effect on a child’s brain, body, and nervous system.

• Funding for processing rooms in schools and social emotional education and also proper stress processing education.

• Funding for trauma informed therapists for all public-school districts and expansion of medicaid coverage for trauma informed care.

We have the power to further urge the Governor of Ohio, Mike DeWine, to take action and declare a state of emergency on childhood trauma. Already in Lorain and Cincinnati, OH, there have been two resolutions that had passed urging the Governor of Ohio to declare a state of emergency on childhood trauma. This would mean so much to so many and DO so much for so many.
