

This week, New York State Senator Brad Hoylman, one of the leading lawmakers behind a push to ban "ex-gay" conversion therapy in NY and the lawmaker who geographically represents Google's NYC office, responded with a call for the tech company to stand up for kids and families devastated by "ex-gay" therapy.
"Google [is] planning to have about 7,000 employees in our Senate district, so I would urge them to remove the app post-haste," said Sen. Hoylman in a statement to The Verge. "I'm hopeful that they'll see the harm that this kind of message sends to the kids and families."
Sen. Hoylman concluded: "I think Google should do the right thing and remove this app from their store immediately."
I thank Sen. Hoylman for his continued vision and leadership in fighting the scourge of conversion therapy. It is time for Google to stop peddling a harmful app targeting LGBT youth with false and destructive messages about their sexual orientation and gender identity.
