这份请愿至今已有 8,715 位经过验证的签名者。有列治文居民，也有大温其他城市和加拿大各地的朋友。这个数字说明一件事：对 R26/14-10 的疑问，不是一个人的疑问。
我们要求的，始终是同样四个问题的答案：
程序公平 —— 表决之前，是否有人联系过当事人、查阅过中文原文？
法律授权 —— 市议会以何种身份、依据哪一条授权，将一位市民的事项转交人权法庭审查？
处理方式 —— 该议题为何以此种方式进入议程、并在当晚完成表决？
一致标准 —— 今后遇到类似事件，市政府是否会适用同一套标准？
这四个问题不要求任何人认错，只要求一个公开、可查证的答复。

我们反对歧视，也反对公权力越界。
这两件事不矛盾。反对歧视，是因为没有人该因族裔身份被贬低；反对公权力越界，是因为没有人该因为一次表达，就被政府机构正式点名追责——尤其是在他已经公开道歉之后。
当公权力可以点名一个普通民众，就有可能点名任何一个人。今天守住原则，明天才守得住自己。

This petition now has 8,715 verified signatures — from Richmond residents, from across Metro Vancouver, and from across Canada. That number makes one thing clear: the questions about R26/14-10 are not one person's questions.
We are asking for answers to the same four questions we started with:
Procedural fairness — Before the vote, did anyone contact the person named, or read the original Chinese-language article?
Legal authority — On what basis, and in what capacity, did Council refer a private resident's matter to the BC Human Rights Tribunal?
Handling — How did this item come onto the agenda and to a vote the same evening?
Consistent standards — Will the same standard apply the next time something like this happens?
None of these questions asks anyone to admit fault. They ask for one thing: a public, verifiable answer.

This is a peaceful, lawful gathering. It is not directed at any individual. We are bringing the questions to the place where they should be answered.
Five things we're asking for: due process · restraint in the use of public authority · no double standards · transparency and accountability · an open, civil conversation
We oppose discrimination. We also oppose government overreach.
These are not in conflict. No one should be demeaned because of their ethnicity — and no one should be formally named and pursued by a government body over a single act of expression, particularly after a public apology has already been made.
If a council can name one private citizen, it can name any citizen. The principle we hold today is the one that protects us tomorrow.
Three things you can do now:
Share this petition with three people. Every signature past 8,715 makes a serious answer more likely.
