The Issue

As students of Frisco ISD, we find ourselves confined within the walls of our classrooms, unable to access game sites, music sites, and other platforms that could potentially enhance our learning experience and provide a much-needed break from the monotony. Our school chromebooks have become mere tools for academic work with no room for leisure or creative exploration.

The restrictions placed by Frisco ISD are not only stifling our creativity but also limiting our ability to explore different avenues of learning. According to a study by Stanford University, incorporating games into education can improve motivation levels and increase engagement among students (Stanford University). Similarly, research from the University of Miami found that listening to music while studying can boost cognitive performance (University of Miami).

We understand the need for responsible internet usage in schools. However, completely blocking these sites is not an effective solution. We propose a more balanced approach where certain hours are dedicated for recreational use under supervision.

By signing this petition, you're supporting us in advocating for a more balanced approach towards internet usage in schools that respects both educational needs as well as student's rights to leisure time. Let's urge Frisco ISD to reconsider their policy and unblock game sites and music sites on school chromebooks! Sign this petition today!
