I have watched in growing despair as anti-abortion protests mount a ceaseless attack on our reproductive rights. This distressing reality is not just personal to me; it resonates with countless others who believe in the fundamental right of women to make choices about their own bodies, and for whom the banishment of legal abortions poses grave risks to their health and well-being.

Medical science categorically states that pregnancies carry different risks for different women, and for some, childbirth could result in severe health complications or even death. According to the World Health Organization, around 295,000 women died during and following pregnancy and childbirth in 2017 alone. A considerable portion of these deaths could have been prevented had safe abortions been readily accessible to the women needing them.

By denying women the right to a safe and legal abortion, we are not only infringing upon their independence but also potentially putting their lives at risk. Women's health, their autonomy, their right to decide all hang in the balance.

Hence, this petition urgently demands policymakers to revise current abortion laws and to frame them around the core values of freedom and health.
