Recent public allegations aired on the television program Raffy Tulfo in Action have raised serious concerns involving Julie Almoneda Tomas, a student from Far Eastern University Manila. The allegations presented on the television segment include abuse, financial exploitation, and grave coercion against another individual. The individual, William Shelton, a foreigner, described not being allowed to freely contact his family and being threatened with deportation if he did not comply with Tomas's demands.

 

Following the broadcast, Tomas allegedly claimed multiple times that FEU had provided her with legal backing and had already taken her side in the matter. According to Shelton, he has reached out to FEU Manila numerous times for comment since the airing of the segment, after Tomas stated that FEU Manila is encouraging her to take legal action against him, and has not received any written communication from FEU Manila clarifying their involvement (or lack thereof) in the matter. These claims have caused public concern among students, parents, alumni, and the broader community regarding the university’s neutrality, accountability, and commitment to justice.

 

We, the undersigned, are calling on FEU Manila to:

1. Conduct a thorough, impartial, and transparent internal investigation into the matter;
2. Clarify whether the university, any of its offices, or representatives provided legal assistance, institutional support, or preferential treatment to the student involved;
3. Release an official public statement addressing the concerns raised by the community;
4. Ensure that all parties involved are treated fairly and in accordance with due process;
5. Reaffirm FEU’s commitment to student welfare, ethical conduct, and institutional accountability.

Educational institutions carry the responsibility of upholding integrity and protecting public trust. Clarification would help address public concern and prevent misinformation.

 

This petition is not intended to pre-judge any individual’s guilt or innocence. Rather, it is a call for transparency, accountability, and a fair investigation so that the truth may be established properly and responsibly.

 

We urge FEU Manila to address these concerns directly and take meaningful action in the interest of justice, fairness, and public trust.
