Demand for Serita Beamon, Seminole County School Board Superintendent, to Resign

Demand for Serita Beamon, Seminole County School Board Superintendent, to Resign
The Issue
On September 24th, 2025, a paraprofessional employed at Sabal Point Elementary School expressed thoughts of harm against the students of the school resulting in a Baker Act of the paraprofessional, and while this alarming situation was known to the Seminole County School Superintendent, Serita Beamon, she failed to inform the parents. Furthermore, Beamon went as far as prohibiting the Sabal Point Administration from notifying the parents and teachers of this significant threat. The Superintendent inaccurately cited the paraprofessional's health privacy rights over the safety of 900+ students and staff.
To compound the issue, despite knowledge of the threat, the Superintendent delayed for ten critical days in retrieving the employee's key to the school premises. She failed to take any action to ensure the safety of the employees, teachers and students at Sabal Point Elementary. This inaction left the school vulnerable.
This lack of transparency is not just an oversight—it is a severe breach of trust with lasting implications on the safety of our children. As concerned and affected parents, we expect the highest standards of communication and safety from our school district leaders. The Superintendent’s negligence put our children at risk, leaving parents in the dark, and now tarnishing our faith in this institution. She admitted in a public meeting on October 7th that at no time since the incident had she made any attempt to reach out to the administration of Sabal Point Elementary. She left the administration and teachers of the school vulnerable as she exhibited extremely poor leadership. She has demonstrated she is unqualified to run this large school district.
We ask for accountability and demand the resignation of the Seminole County School Superintendent, Serita Beamon. It is clear that her actions and inactions display a significant lapse in judgment and leadership. We believe new leadership is necessary to restore trust and ensure the safety of our students.
We urge you to stand with us in protecting our children’s right to a safe educational environment. Let us make our voices heard loud and clear: demand change, demand accountability, and demand the resignation of the current Superintendent.
Please sign this petition to help safeguard the future of our children and generate necessary change in the Seminole County School system.
